A good late 19th century camphor wood brass bound travel chest of large proportions with double locks and an interior fitted with lidded compartment and 2 drawers. Heavy brass carrying handles to the sides (later) and blank nameplate to the lid. These Chinese export trunks were mainly made in the East for European travellers. Camphor being a natural insect repellent favourable for travels. Make ideal coffee tables and storage away from the dreaded silver moth! 3 slats to the underside of top to allow for protection when stacked at sea.
