A fine quality Edwardian mahogany cylinder bureau bookcase with beautiful marquetry inlaid doors under a pediment of two opposing well carved griffins – mythological creature with the body, hind legs and tail of a lion and the wings, front talons and head of an eagle. The cylinder crossbanded in Kingwood opens to reveal a satinwood interior that pulls forward for writing and adjustable slope on a rachet for reading. Later brass cast ovals.
