A late 19th century mahogany “Jersey” or “Channel Island” wardrobe. The figured frieze inlaid with boxwood stringing as are the panel doors that open to reveal full length hanging. The wardrobe completely dismantles down to individual panels enabling access to difficult areas of the house that assembled would be impossible to navigate. They were inspired by the French Armoire - the sides with their tenons to top and bottom that locate in to the mortice joints. The back is then screwed in place which keeps it all structurally sound.
